About Dr Marta Garcia de Blakeley
Clinical Psychologist / PhD Clinical Psychology
I am originally from Argentina, and I have lived in Australia for almost 2 decades. I consult in English and Spanish.
I practice from a “bio-psycho-social-spiritual-cultural” model. This means, I believe it is the combination of many factors that makes us who we are and that contribute to our current strengths and distresses. These constitute conscious and unconscious factors that condition our responses to life circumstances and stressors, our relationships to others, and very importantly, to ourselves.
I believe in collaboration and the inner strength and resilience of all people to actively participate in shaping meaning for their own lives.
I am interested in psychotherapy and in teaching. I work in private practice as a clinical psychologist. I also supervise students in the Master of Clinical Psychology at Griffith University, and am a sessional lecturer at The University of Queensland, teaching on cross-cultural psychotherapy in the Psychology and Counselling postgraduate program.
